I am Professor of Marine Environment at the University of Galway. I coordinate the B.Sc. in Marine Science and I am a member of the School of Natural Sciences and the Ryan Institute. The Ryan Institute facilitates collaboration with researchers across the University. I am affiliated with the Marine and Coastal research cluster.
I am a marine ecologist with a particular interest in spatial ecology. I use experiments, survey, computer simulation and data analysis to understand patterns of population abundance and assemblage composition. My experience includes both benthic and pelagic ecology. The different approaches can be applied to address questions in conservation, marine protected areas, fisheries, introduced species, monitoring, environmental management and compliance to legislation. Recent publications looked at seaweed farms, cross-taxa responses to multiple gradients and population dynamics of the harvested winkle, Littorina littorea Google scholar profile University of Galway research page (IRIS system) |
